camp DIY was started by two Evanston sewing teachers and is run by a staff of experienced artists, crafters and teachers. Kids will learn more than they can imagine in a fun and encouraging environment.
Meredith has been teaching sewing for many years and currently teaches various sewing classes to adults and children, including after school at Willard, Bessie Rhodes and Kingsley schools. Meredith also paints and creates multi-media art.
Khania is an experienced sewer and crafter and teaches sewing to adults and children, including after school at Willard and Kingsley schools. She has had many years of experience teaching arts & crafts to kids.
Rachel is an Evanston 3d graphics artist who also loves to create mosaics and micro clay creations. Her work can be seen at www.rachelnador.com and www.micromakery.com.
Gretchen is an experienced crafter and jewelry designer whose work is available at local craft fairs. She is also a licensed K-12 teacher.
Courtney is an experienced sewer who has used her talents as a tailor, mascot builder, puppet maker, sewing teacher and is currently specializing in upholstery work. Courtney teaches Sewing Club at Bessie Rhodes and Willard.
Meredith is the Art teacher at Dawes Elementary School and Park School. She received her Masters in Teaching for Art Education and has been teaching for four years.

Kristen is a mom and lover of crafts, sewing and DIY! She creates doll clothes and loves to paint. Kristen was a middle school English and French teacher before getting her master's degree in Library Science. During the school year Kristen teaches sewing after school at Willard Elementary.
Kate is a colored pencil fine artist specializing in still life work and commissioned portraits. She is a mother of three and a native Evanstonian.
Pam received a BA in Textile Design with an emphasis in weaving and has been involved in the arts for many years. She has experience in felting, weaving, pottery, photography, jewelry and glassmaking. Pam taught at camp DIY last year and loved is so much she's back this year! She has three teenaged children and lives in Evanston.
Gerri worked for over a decade as a graphic designer and art director before becoming a full-time mom of 3. She loves music, nature, travel and critters, all of which inspire her drawing, fabric painting, and ceramics. She has been a scout leader for 8 years. Gerri is looking forward to teaching at Camp DIY!
Callie loves teaching sewing and will be returning for her second summer with Camp DIY. She loves drafting and testing new patterns for herself and creating clothes and accessories for her four little girls. Callie previously taught sewing at Camp DIY and at Willard Sewing Club.
Brandy is joining Camp DIY as the Manager of the Artist Assistant Program. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in curriculum and instruction. She has been teaching at Willard Elementary for 6 years. She has valuable experiance with middle school-aged kids from her work as a Certified Child Life Specialist at Evanston Hospital and through her experience coaching a girls competitive gymnastics team.
Unika has a degree in textile design and fashion merchandising and has 10 years of experience teaching arts and crafts to kids. She is an expert crocheter and creates crochet works and other art in her spare time.
